CHOOSING A PROGRAMME OF STUDY THAT BEST SUITS YOU

LEVEL 3 PACKAGE
Students must have five or more GCSEs at grade C+ and the following subject requirements also apply:
SUBJECT SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS
Art and Design A Level AQA At least 5 GCSEs grade C+.  An interest in Art with good drawing skills
Biology A Level AQA * Science and Additional Science Grade B or GCSE Biology Grade B
Business Studies A Level Edexcel English Language at Grade B or above.  Business Studies at grade C if you studied it at GCSE.
Chemistry A Level OCR Specification A * Science and Additional Science Grade B or GCSE Chemistry Grade B
Computing A Level OCR English Language, Maths and Science at a grade B.   GCSE IT/Computing would be an advantage but not essential. Good communication & analytical skills. An interest in computer programming and problem solving.
English Literature A Level AQA English Literature and English Language at grade B and above
French A Level AQA Grade B or above at GCSE.  We also recommend that you will have achieved a Grade B or above in English. This is an important requirement due to the literary content of this new course.
Geography A Level Edexcel English Language at grade B and above, and Geography at grade C and above if studied at GCSE level (or equivalent GCSE)
Government & Politics A Level Edexcel English Language at grade B
History  A Level Edexcel GCSE English Language Grade B.  GCSE History Grade B
ICT  A Level OCR English Language and Maths grade C or above
Law  A Level AQA English Language at grade B and above
Linguistics  A Level OCR English Language at grade B and above 
Mathematics  A Level Edexcel At least a B at GCSE Mathematics: preferably A or A*
Mathematics (Further Mathematics)
A Level Edexcel
A or A* at GCSE Mathematics
Media Studies  A Level AQA B in GCSE Media with B in English Literature desired – necessary if no Media GCSE in place
Performing Arts  Level 3 Extended
Diploma Edexcel
Minimum grade C in English GCSE , previous Drama/Dance/Musical Theatre experience (e.g. GCSE Course, ISTD Grades (Ballet, Tap, Jazz, long term membership and participation in musical theatre companies)
Philosophy & Ethics  A Level Edexcel Preferably grade B in English or English Literature and at least 4 other GCSEs grade C+.  An enquiring mind and the ability to construct and deconstruct arguments.
Physical Education  A Level AQA B at GCSE PE (at least a C in paper – unit 1).  Studied PE at GCSE level (not equivalent i.e. BTEC Sport) Member of a sports club away from school (evidence required)
Physics  A Level OCR Specification B * Science and Additional Science Grade B or GCSE Physics Grade B
Product Design (3D)  A Level AQA C Grade or above in GCSE Resistant Materials, Graphic Products or Product Design. Preferred C Grade or above in English, Maths and Science
Psychology  A Level AQA GCSE English Language at grade B.  GCSE Mathematics at grade C.  GCSE Science at grade B
Science Applied and BTEC 
BTEC National Level 3 Extended Certificate in Applied Science
BTEC National Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science (Analytical and Forensic Science)
 
Science GCSE at grade C.  BTEC in Science
Sociology  A Level GCSE English Language at grade C
Spanish  A Level AQA Grade B or above at GCSE.  We also recommend that you will have achieved a Grade B or above in English. This is an important requirement due to the literary content of this new course
Textiles  A Level AQA At least 5 GCSEs grade C+.  An interest in Textiles with good drawing skills.
 

Please note:
* A level Sciences is not suitable for students who have studied BTEC Science at KS4.
Students with disabilities (incl. dyslexia) will have individualised entry criteria decided upon at interview by the Sixth Form Team.
We will make an offer of a 4 A Level package or equivalent to individual students based on overall attainment at GCSE, normally reduced to 3 A Levels in Year 13.
Any students who have not attained GCSE English and Maths at grade C will also have to attend resit classes.
